Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia is currently searching for an Editorial Coordinator to join our team in Burnaby! 

The Editorial Coordinator will be responsible for preparing our guidelines and advisories for publication, including editorial review and formatting. The Editorial Coordinator will also research and write news articles and other content, and provide editorial support for publications, communications materials, and other material (web and print), including Innovation magazine, eNews and the organization’s Annual Report.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING 

  • Responsible for editorial review of professional practice guidelines and advisories, including copy editing, proofing and some substantive editing. 
  • Administers the overall production and publication of professional practice guidelines, advisories, and other organizational documents. This includes working with staff to coordinate project timelines, completing editorial review, managing document formatting and publication, and creating communications plans to promote the document. 
  • Researches and writes articles and other content for Engineers and Geoscientists BC’s internal and external communications, including articles for Innovation Magazine and eNews, website content, and other material as needed. Collaborates with staff to produce content.
  • Provides editing, copy editing, proofing, fact checking, and additional support for publications and external communications materials as needed, including Innovation Magazine, eNews, and the organization’s Annual Report.  
  • Maintains and updates the organization’s corporate style guide and provides training and guidance to staff as needed to ensure consistent use and clear communications with external audiences.
  • Other duties as assigned by management

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE 

The successful applicant will possess the following: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications or Publishing is preferred.
  • Editors of Canada certification is an asset.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience writing, editing and producing communications materials for publication.
  • 3+ years of experience working with technical groups or subject-matter-experts to create content for a general audience.
  • Strong and demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines. 
  • Demonstrated skills in: copy editing; substantive editing; proofing; formatting documents in Word and PDF; layout and art direction; corporate communications; technical writing; and document assembly in Acrobat.
  • Experience with Photoshop and InDesign is an asset.

This role offers a competitive compensation and benefits program including a salary within our hiring range of $75,000 to $84,000. Placement within the hiring range will be based on candidate experience relative to the requirements of the role.
